Ladies and Gentlemen.

          It is my honour and privilege to formally welcome you all to this ceremony for the inauguration of the Delta State Vision 2020 Council and the Delta State Vision 2020 Steering Committee.  I am humbled by your esteemed presence, that despite your very busy schedules, your sense of patriotism and commitment to our dear Delta State has enabled you to set aside this day to respond to this call.

 

2.     The task before us is exciting as it is daunting.  The Delta State Vision 2020 project provides us all, with an opportunity to engage ourselves and all Deltans in defining the State of our dream, and the quality of life that our people should enjoy.  The plan document that will emerge from this exercise will provide a framework for future developmental efforts.

 

3.     As you are all aware, the concept of a State vision is a perception of the future, which reveals and points to something new, beyond what is already available and accessible.  The ultimate goal of our vision is to improve the quality of life of Deltans.

4.     Today's event is indeed very unique as it demonstrates our commitment to the development of a long term vision and strategic plan for the transformation of our dear State with the active participation of our elder statesmen, captains of industry, the private sector, traditional institutions and other segments of our society.

 

5.     Once again, I welcome you all to this ceremony for the inauguration of the Delta State Vision 2020 Council and the Delta State Vision 2020 Steering Committee.  I thank you all for patriotically accepting to serve.
